A number of individuals, including peer mentors, experienced strong feelings of gratification for the work they did, and how it contributed to a sense of service to and for others.
Part of his service is working at the animal shelter … the dogs are just amazing, he responds to them, they respond to him. He is very tuned in to making sure that when they get these dogs that have been abused and discarded that they are loved back into wellness,
As a nurse, for years, when I would get ready to go to work or prepare to go see patients, clients or whatever I had this stethoscope, and thermometer, and medication and all sorts of things to treat illness, and today, I treat wellness.
One of my privileges here is I take 6-8 clients to at least two meetings per week.
We have boards in our office, this particular one talks about a community health van that goes around to different locations, they might go to different community housing developments, maybe libraries once in a while … a community health van, kind of like a primary care type thing.

It’s just a privilege to be able to make a little bit of a difference in someone’s life, that hopefully could grow into something more like a hobby, whether it was for personal enjoyment or recreation, or perhaps someone could get into farming and join the farmers market in the community or something else like that .
